Lexington KY Implant Overdentures

Head-and-shoulders photo of 65+ woman with gray hair sitting on a white couch and smiling with her chin resting on her hands - for information on implant overdentures from Kentucky Dental Group of Lexington.Implant overdentures can change the way you feel about wearing dentures. They improve function and comfort, and they look and feel more like natural teeth.

What Are Implant Overdentures?

Dental implants are surgically implanted in your jawbone to serve as anchors for your dentures. During the healing period, the implants fuse with your jawbone for reliable support. Your dentures will be secured to the implants. As few as two implant fixtures will stabilize your dentures, but four to six fixtures will increase the stability.

What Are the Advantages?

Implant overdentures have a positive impact on your quality of life in several ways:

  • They won’t slip around or fall out. And the stability will relieve anxiety about embarrassing moments from loose dentures.
  • Everyday functions, including speaking and eating, are easier.
  • They will feel more like your natural teeth.
  • Implants stimulate and help preserve jawbone. Otherwise, when all of your teeth are missing, your body resorbs the bone.
  • They help prevent facial collapse, which results from bone shrinkage and lack of support for your facial muscles.
  • If you want your dental work completed in phases, you can receive new dentures first. They can be fitted for dental implants later.

Insist on Quality

Quality dental implants can be a lifetime solution for stabilizing your dentures. Avoid insisting on the lowest cost for your implant overdentures. If a dentist takes shortcuts our uses cheap implant fixtures to save money, the results can be costly. Misplaced fixtures can cause a variety of problems, including:

  • Numbness
  • Tingling
  • Pain
  • Loose implants

“After an accident that cracked my front teeth, the emergency room plastic surgeon recommended Dr. Weaver. I'm so glad he did! Dr. Weaver put me at ease through multiple procedures and appointments. He went above and beyond explaining each one and I am very happy with the results! The office staff was friendly and efficient and there was never a wait for an appointment. My entire family now goes to Dr. Weaver. Wish I could give him more than five stars!”
